Drive it Day crosses the channel
The secretary was delighted to learn that a group of students in Luxembourg is planning to join-in Drive It Day. As part of a "project Management" effort they are organising a gathering of classic cars under the auspices of the Luxembourg Old Timer Federation http://www.lof.lu/ on 20 April.

Special insurance deal for Drive It Day

FBHVC is delighted to announce that, through the good offices of RH Specialist Insurance, it is now possible to obtain fully comprehensive insurance for younger drivers of historic cars and light commercials for Drive It Day at £10.50.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to persuade insurers to extend this to motor cycles because the cover hinges on the owner being present and able to advise the driver in the event of any confusion with unfamiliar controls.

Terms and conditions do, of course, apply and these can be found on the press release issued on 6 March 2008 HERE (pdf format)

Announcement of new secretary

The February 2008 issue of FBHVC's newsletter carried the announcement that Rosy Pugh has been appointed to succeed Jim Whyman as secretary. Rosy, who was General Manager of the TR Register from 1989 to 2002, has served on FBHVC's legislation committee since its foundation in 1997. She was elected to the committee in 2000, but resigned at the AGM last year when new articles of association led to a change of management structure. Rosy has been editor of the FBHVC Newsletter for nearly ten years (a position she will continue to hold), so she could hardly be more steeped in FBHVC affairs

Rosy will be working from home, as Jim has always done, and this will mean a change of address for FBHVC once the process of transferring responsibility gets underway in April. Jim will cease to have any day-to-day responsibility by the autumn, but has promised to remain available for advice or special commissions (he and his wife, Mattie, will continue to run their business providing administrative services to clubs).

In announcing the appointment, FBHVC chairman, Chris Hunt Cooke, said: "The board is delighted to announce that after an open competition they have appointed Rosy Pugh, long time newsletter editor and previously a committee member, to take over the reins. There will be a gradual changeover process, starting in April, and we will keep members informed about when functions are being transferred. The board feels that with Rosy’s talent and experience, the affairs of the Federation will be in very safe hands."
