Carbon Capture scheme (Tree-V)

Working together, the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs and Tree-V established a carbon capture scheme designed especially for the historic vehicle community and have been planting thousands of trees in Tom's Wood in North Yorkshire since 2021, and on the Isle of Arran since 2024.

This has allowed hundreds of people to carbon capture their yearly mileage as well as numerous clubs to tackle the carbon footprint of events they run, FBHVC clubs have planted thousands of trees to ensure everything from rallies to static shows are green.

Museums and Trade Supporters also play their part

Alongside individuals and clubs, a wide cross section of the FBHVC family are making use of the scheme. Many of our museum members; Brooklands Museum, Transport Museum Wythall, the National Motor Museum and Dundee Museum of Transport have got involved, carbon balancing their collections, their events and in some cases even their staff and volunteer miles. Many of our traders, such as Rally the Globe, Genus IT and British Racing Motors are also playing their part.

Why is it important the historic vehicle community tackles its carbon footprint?

Having a green scheme that everyone in the historic vehicle community can make use of gives us an incredibly potent tool as we work with law-makers and the public to ensure our vehicles can thrive on tomorrow’s roads.

By uniting and having a cumulative impact on the environment with our green efforts we are able to demonstrate we're a responsible community and more importantly open a conversation on the relatively small, real-world impact of our vehicles on the environment.

As we all know, we attract a lot of attention when out and about and we hope, by embracing a scheme such as the one delivered by Tree-V in partnership with the Federation it demonstrates that we deserve to be using yesterday’s vehicles on tomorrow's roads.

You can find out more about how the scheme works here and sign up to carbon balance your vehicle here. If you're a club wishing to discuss a bespoke approach to an event then please get in touch with [email protected] who will be happy to help.
