Can you give a 68-year-old Hippo a new lease of life?

An 'Urgent News Flash' from The Leyland Society has been circulated about a 1957 Leyland Hippo that is urgently seeking a new home.

Leyland Hippo SGG 690 is available now either for restoration or for use as a parts donor in a restoration.

The owner,  Connor Redpath, would be happy to donate the Hippo to a museum or a society on the understanding that the vehicle was not to be scrapped, but it must be collected before the end of July to avoid it being scrapped.

It  was his late grandfather John (Jock) Redpath’s lorry which he always had plans to restore and sadly never got round to doing it.

Connor is looking for someone who will either restore the lorry or use it for parts in a restoration. The last thing his grandfather would want was it to go to the scrap yard and he is trying his best for this not to happen.

Connor is hoping to be put in contact with an individual or a business that would be interested in fulfilling his grandfather’s wishes. He would happily donate the Hippo to a museum or a society on the understanding that the vehicle was not to be scrapped and collection would be arranged and paid by the party it was being donated to. Most panels are there although in poor condition. It did run a few years ago. It is a chassis and cab.
