Entries open for Cumbria Classic & Motorsport Show

Published: 16/02/2024

Entry is now open for the Wigton Motor Club's (WMC) 33rd Cumbria Classic & Motorsport Show, on Sunday 18 August at Dalemain near Penrith.

The Wigton Motor Club-organised event will celebrate French and German cars this year including the iconic Golf which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

The entry is limited to 800 cars split between over 400 individual entries and displays by over 30 clubs. This makes for the biggest motoring event in the region.

The show supports the Jig Saw Childrens Hospice and West Cumbria Carers, along with Eden Animal Rescue. The WMC is run entirely by unpaid volunteers.

"We had a great attendance last year with over 800 cars and lots of spectators. This year we are limiting the entry to 800 cars for logistical reasons so do get your entry in quickly. No entries will be accepted after July 8th." says the club.

Wigton MC members can enter their car (and two occupants) free of charge and other enthusiasts for just £5 per car. This includes an event programme and attendance award, made from slate.

The Wigton MC club stand will feature a variety of competition cars and information of how to get started in motorsport via Street Car.

As usual there will be arena displays of interesting cars and action on the autotest arena where car owners can have a go at a simple grass autotest.  The trade area increases every year with over 30 stalls this year’s along with ten food outlets.

For those wishing to join Wigton Motor Club there is an exclusive offer for £20 which covers right up to the end of 2025. The club has over 1,000 members currently making it the biggest club in the region.

Dalemain is 3 miles west of Penrith. Take the A66 at Junction 40 of the M6 and at the Rheged roundabout take the A592 and follow the signs.

Admission is £10 person, under 16s free. There is a free programme and parking is also free. Gates open at 11 and the show closes at 3.30.
