FBHVC Chairman Appointed FIVA Delegate to FIA

Published: 01/02/2014

The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FHBVC), the group which campaigns for the rights of historic vehicle owners to use the UK’s roads, has today (1 February 2014) announced the appointment of  its Chairman, David Whale, to the International Historical Commission (CHI) of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). Mr Whale, Senior Vice President of the Federation Internationale Vehicules Ancien (FIVA), was nominated by FIVA as its permanent member on the FIA Commission and his appointment was ratified by the FIA General Assembly in December last year.

Commenting on this new appointment, David Whale said, “It’s a great honour to represent the interests of the UK’s many historic vehicle enthusiasts in such an influential world body as the FIA. It is best known to the general public as the world motorsport governing body but it also pursues very similar heritage goals as FIVA and its member national federations. My task will be to leverage the power of these two organisations and also to encourage a wider appreciation of what the CHI does in support of the historic vehicle movement.”
