Fifth ‘Drive It Day’ classic car event at Castle View, Windsor, a big success

Published: 28/04/2026

The fifth ‘coffee & cakes’ Drive It Day event held at Castle View Retirement Living Windsor on Sunday 26 April attracted 45 classic vehicles and raised £600 for NSPCC Childline and is hailed a big success by organisers.

Exhibits included:

  • 1928 Morris Cowley the oldest car at Castle View Drive It Day
  • Rare Sunbeam Alpine Harrington roadster
  • MG TD and a Jaguar XK120
  • MGB GT and a TR6
  • 1960 Skoda Octavia
  • rare Colt Celeste
  • Triumph TR3A

Tying in with the national Drive It Day, an eclectic collection of classic vehicles arrived during the morning, including the oldest car, an immaculately restored 1928 Morris Cowley, a rare 2003 Porsche 911 40 Jahre (40th Anniversary), two Jaguar XK120s, two MG TDs from 1951 and 1952, a Colt Celeste and a Ford Cortina 1600E.

Participants had travelled from across southern England to join in, from West London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Surrey.  A tasty spread of cakes was served by the homeowners living at Castle View and sold along with hot dogs, tea and coffee in exchange for a donation to the NSPCC.

“It was such a great atmosphere,” commented one visitor who was back for the fifth year:  “We love coming here and there’s always a wonderful selection of vehicles - different makes, models and eras: a great place to spend a few hours chatting to fellow enthusiasts.”

Commented Karl Hallows, managing director of Castle View.  “This was the fifth year we had welcomed the classic car community to Castle View, and were rewarded with warm, sunny weather which helped to attract over 45 really interesting cars.

"The enthusiasm of the owners and a large number of members of the public helped to raise much needed funds for the NSPCC, our homeowners doing us proud with all the cakes they had prepared and sold.  The event has grown year on year and I much look forward to welcoming everyone back again in 2027.”
