IMPS invade West Kent for Drive-it Day

The West Kent members of the ‘Invicta Military-Vehicle Preservation Society’ (IMPS) held their ‘Drive It Day’ event on Sunday 26th April. 

Says Nick Cowles, Area Secretary , West Kent - IMPS: "We had 11 WW2 Willys & Ford Jeeps (all 82 years plus old) and were proudly displaying our ‘NSPCC Childline’ grill plaques. 

"Our planned 50 mile scenic route across the Kent North Downs took us to Kent’s only ‘Thankful Village’ of Knowlton near Canterbury. 

"Knowlton sent 12 of its men to fight in the 1914 -18 War and those 12 men all ‘Thankfully’ returned home. 

"This was later recognised as a ‘Thankful Village’ and is Kent’s only. 

"We made a visit to the Monument erected in recognition of this and also for Knowlton being awarded the ‘Bravest Village’ in England for the percentage of men that volunteered from the village population. 

"This was followed by a visit to Knowlton Court for a line up photograph. 

"A wonderful day out and raising funds for the NSPPC Childline."
