Lancia Motor Club secures World premier viewing of the only D20

Published: 26/08/2025

The Lancia Motor Club is proud to have secured the world’s first public viewing on their display at Salon Privé, Blenheim Palace, of the Lancia sports racing D20 Berlinetta Coupe.

This is the only D20 in the world and there will never be another one. Built exactly to Lancia’s drawings and design and with the sole surviving original D20 engine, this extraordinary recreation which took over 10 years to achieve was devised by the same team as recreated the revolutionary Lancia D50 Grand Prix car which has thrilled spectators at Goodwood, Laguna Seca and other circuits.

Typically Lancia in its advanced thinking and purity of design, the D20, developed in 9 months from start to finish, used a space frame, inboard front and rear drum brakes, a rear mounted gearbox / transaxle, independent front and de Dion rear suspension and an all-aluminium V6 twin plug 4-cam engine developing 220 bhp.

The car weighed less than 950 kg and was capable of 230 km/h. It was a front runner throughout the 1953 Mille Miglia, achieving 3rd and 8th places , won the 1953 Targa Florio outright, and in its developed D24 form went on to win the gruelling Carrera Panamericana with first, second and third places and to win the 1954 Mille Miglia outright.

Lancia then stopped their sports car racing programme to concentrate on the D50 Grand Prix car - the only car capable of rivalling the Mercedes Benz W 196.

Come and see Lancia D20 at Salon Privé 2025 Blenheim Palace on Saturday 30 August 2025
