Malcolm Wilson OBE to be reunited with his first rally car

The Cumbria Classic and Motorsport Show is part of the Cumbria Classic Weekend which is the biggest motoring event in the region. The first show was in 1989 and the enthusiastic organising team from Wigton Motor Club now limit the number of entries to 800. It was full by June this year.
This year we have a guest of honour in Malcolm Wilson OBE who will be reunited with his first rally car, a Ford Escort RS, which has been beautifully restored by Neil Kirkham. There will also be on of M Sport’s current rally cars to show how things have changed.
The featured classes this year are for rally cars and Italian cars, both of which will be presented in the arena during the afternoon
The Cumbria Classic & Motorsport Show is on August 17th, 2025 at Dalemain, Penrith on the A593.
Some 35 cars clubs will be having displays and a similar number of trade stands. Renown rallying journalist, John Fife, will be selling his series of books on the history of rallying in Scotland.
As part of Motor Sport UK’s Street Car initiative to get more people involved in club motorsport, there will be demonstration autotests and a change to have a go yourself if you are displaying a car.
Wigton Motor Club are supporting two charities this year, Hospice at Home, Carlisle; and Every Life Matters.
The Show opens to the public at 11am and closes at 4pm. Admission is £20 adult, and well behaved dogs and children are free. There is a special free to join Treasure Hunt for children.
