No public funeral for FBHVC Vice-President David Hurley

We wish to advise that the family of FBHVC Vice-President David Hurley, has decided that his funeral will be a strictly family-only occasion. We do not know any more details.

David Hurley died on Sunday 6 July.  He was 82 and lived in Worthing, Sussex. He leaves his wife, Jenny, two adult sons Chris and Michael, and their own families.

Highly-respected and well-liked in the historic commercial vehicle movement, he joined the FBHVC in 1991 as its commercial vehicle representative. Prior to retirement, he worked at a senior level in the insurance industry.

After the Federation’s incorporation in 1999, he joined the board as Legislation Director, until his retirement from the role in 2013, aged 68, when he then took on the role of Vice-President for the Federation. 

Until September 2024, when ill-health forced him to stand down, David Hurley was also chairman of the Working Omnibus Museum Project (having been on its board since 1996). He was a life member of the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society (HCVS), and also a member of the Albion Club.
