Opportunity of a Lifetime for 12 Apprenticeship Seeking Young People

Published: 26/08/2015

It is announced today ( 1 September) that North London Garages Automotive Academies is to be the nominated training provider for London and the Home Counties for the Federation of British Historic Vehicles Clubs (FBHVC) Apprenticeship in Historic Vehicle Restoration. This means that the search is now on for 12 aspiring Apprentices to join the course in October this year. The course, which covers Level 2 of the apprenticeship over a two year period is a combination of hands on experience in the workshop and theory in the classroom and because students are placed within a business as well as attending college, they earn a wage while they learn. This means the search is also on for restoration businesses interested in taking on apprentices who commit to the course. As the apprenticeship has Ofqual accreditation the Government has made available cash incentives for these businesses.

“We are delighted that North London Garages have adopted our apprenticeship programme”, commented FBHVC Skills Director, Karl Carter, “clearly having a skills provider in the capital is a very significant step forward for the programme.”

North London Garages Automotive Academies are a renowned training provider in the automotive sector delivering a variety of high quality programmes. They have four centres, Enfield (N. London), Beckton (E. London), Uxbridge (W. London) and Watford (Herts) so depending on demand for the course they have the capacity to roll it out across the whole network.

Commenting on the announcement, North London Garages Director. John Pitchforth said, “The FBHVC has anticipated the looming skills gap in the booming restoration sector and has filled it with this excellent apprenticeship course. We very much look forward to becoming the centre of excellence in London, introducing young people to a fascinating and rewarding career in historic vehicle restoration.”
