Scottish Austin Seven Club arranges over-12s driving experiences

Federation member, the Scottish Austin Seven Club, is running a two-day event, in North Lanarkshire, central Scotland, giving its younger members (over 12 years old) the opportunity to learn to drive on a road.

Following the successes of last year’s visit to Monklands Car Club’s Forrestburn Hill Climb the Scottish Austin Seven Club has again negotiated exclusive use of the site over two days on 6/7 September, to allow its younger members an opportunity to learn to drive on a proper road.

The event is open to anyone in the Scottish Austin Seven Club, along with any younger person aged 12 and over, who would like to experience driving (preferably an Austin Seven but any vehicle is acceptable). The club has exclusive use of the track and car park area for two full days.

Young people must be accompanied by an adult at all times in the car and they must not exceed 40mph, although it’s not expected that they will exceed 15mph!

The club is allowed to camp/motorhome/campervan on site on the Saturday – with access to toilets, water and a large barbecue. “The social aspect of this event will be excellent” adds the club’s Ruairidh Dunford.

The modest cost of renting the venue for the two days (including camping) will be split equally between all of those attending.
