Tamar Historic Transport Club and their cars enjoy Drive it Day

The Tamar Historic Transport Club met at The Engine House near Callington for breakfast.
From here, they drove to the beautiful stannery town* of Tavistock where they parked in a space right outside the Town Hall, which had been arranged by the club's chair Dave Fry (who drives a red Austin Healey).
This was a new venue for the end of the drive and attracted much interest from the passing public.

* A stannary town is a historic administrative centre in Devon and Cornwall (four towns in each) where locally-mined tin was weighed, assessed, stamped for quality, and taxed. From the medieval period these chartered towns held unique privileges, including exemptions from local laws and governance by their own independent Stannary Parliaments and Courts. Designated by King Edward I's charter in 1305 and expanded in 1328, the Devon towns are on the fringes of Dartmoor. While the mining boom has passed, these towns retain their historical identity. Their influence was so significant that the ‘Lord Warden of the Stannaries’ remains an official ceremonial title appointed by the Duke of Cornwall to this day.
