Modern Classics Lead the way at Letchworth’s Classic, Retro & Performance Car November Sale

Published: 02/11/2022

  • Letchworth Motor Auctions’ next Classic, Retro and Performance Sale will take place on Saturday 19th November 2022.
  • Around 75 classics will go under the hammer in the one day sale.
  • Cars can be consigned up until 16th November 2022.
  • Potential buyers are welcome to attend both the preview and sale day.

Modern classics lead the way in the varied vehicles on offer for Letchworth Motor Auctions’ next sale for Classic, Retro and Performance cars on Saturday 19th
November.

A trio of ‘fast Fords’ including a pair of Ford Escort XR3i Cabriolets and one owner from new 1990 Ford Sierra XR4i are bound to attract plenty of interest.

The 1989 XR3i is a project in need of recommissioning, confirmed by the £3,000 - £4,000 estimate. The 1990 model is a special edition ‘two-tone’ variant with 142,575 miles on the clock that has had plenty of work undertaken from 2009 onwards including new engine, cambelt, clutch and alternator. A low estimate of £3,500 - £4,500 makes it an ideal car for someone who wants to get their hands on a ‘hot hatch’ at a bargain price.

Stored in a barn since 2016, the four-door manual XR4i with 73,997 miles on the clock does still start, run and drive but will also require recommissioning. The exterior presents well but needs attention in a couple of areas. However, the interior has not been touched so will need a good clean. If you are looking to get into the sporting hatchback arena, the estimate of £4,000-£5,000 is an ideal price.

Sticking with cars from the 90s, there’s a stunning mix of saloons to catch the eye.  Mercedes Benz is represented by the 320 CE Cabriolet and 500 SL 32, both automatic gearbox convertibles with low mileage for their ages.

The 1994 Jaguar XJ6 Auto is another crowd pleaser as is the 1999 Chevrolet GMC
Camaro and Saab 9-3 SE Turbo.

The Camaro was imported from Texas and registered in the UK in 2007, whereas the Saab is an undervalued classic that has a full MoT in a very desirable colour scheme.

Managing Director Simon Morgan said: “We’ve a strong mix of modern and traditional classics for our second sale with around 75 cars looking for new homes. We are really looking forward to building on the success of our first sale and hope to have six classic sales in 2023.”

Owners who would like to discuss entering their vehicle into the sale or a free valuation can contact Adam or Simon via email to sales@lmauctions.co.uk or by phoning 01462 480 499.

All of the vehicles are available to view from 12noon until 4.30pm on Wednesday 16th, 9am to 6pm on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th November. On Saturday 19th
November, cars can be viewed from 9.30am with the auction starting 12noon. Entry
to the sale is charged at £5 per person which includes a vehicle catalogue.

Bidding is via telephone, online by registering on the website for Live Bid, Bid Spotter, I Bidder and saleroom.com, or in person at the sale. Find more details and see the full catalogue at www.letchworthmotorauctions.co.uk/classic-auction.
