Wigton Motor Club's show is another resounding success

The Cumbria Classic & Motorsport Show proved to be another resounding success with record crowds enjoying wonderful weather and 800 beautifully presented cars. The event run by Wigton Motor Club has been running since 1989.

The highlight of the event was reuniting Malcolm Wilson with his first rally car, an Escort Mark 1 which has been beautifully restored by Neil Kirkham. Also present were Malcolm’s first navigator John Davies and Keith Thomas who had helped built the car before Malcolm had it.  The car and Malcolm drew big crowds all day. 

Also on the Wigton MC display was an M Sport Ford Raptor Dakar rally car and a Lightweight Jaguar E type, along with many club motorsport  cars. 

The grass autotests were very popular with many people having a go at this taster event. During the day over 90 people joined the club taking the total membership to well over a thousand.

The winners and runners up the classes brought over forty cars into the arena for the final judging for the Car of the Show which went to the Ford Capri Mk1 for S. Handley. 

During the Show, a cheque for £480 was presented the Great North Air Ambulance on behalf of NESCRO.
